26 All-New Episodes Continue Fast-Paced Action And Fish-Out-Of-Water Comedy Of First Animé Series Created And Produced Entirely In The U.S.*

NEW YORK - June 7, 2007 - /Kappa Mikey/, the hit Nicktoons Network series and the first animé series created and produced in the U.S., will debut its second season with a half-hour premiere entitled “Camp” on Saturday, June 9 at 8:30 p.m. (ET). The following evening, Nicktoons Network will air a second all-new episode called “Free Squiddy” on Sunday, June 10 at 8:30 p.m. (ET). The original animated comedy series was created and executive produced by Larry Schwarz, CEO of Animation Collective. MTV Networks' first global acquisition, /Kappa Mikey/ is also currently seen on Nickelodeon's international channels, including Nick Asia, Nick UK, Nick Spain, Nick France and Nick Europe.

Season two, which contains 26 all-new episodes, continues to follow the adventures of Mikey Simon, an unknown American actor who stars on LilyMu, a fictional Japanese TV series. Fans of the series can expect more zany comedy and animé action as well as further delving into the ensemble characters' back-stories and relationships with one another. The second season will also include departures from the show's format in several episodes, such as a two-part special and a reversed episode that is set primarily in LilyMu, the animé action show-within-a-show.

The second season will kick off with a marathon of /Kappa Mikey/ episodes from season one beginning Saturday, June 9 at 4 p.m. (ET) leading up to the premiere episode, "Camp," at 8:30 p.m. (ET). LilyMu producer Ozu, unhappy with the cast's recent performance, sends the gang to acting camp. On the way, Guano accidentally finds his way to cheerleading camp instead.

On June 10 at 8:30 p.m. (ET), Nicktoons Network will air a second all-new episode, “Free Squiddy,” when Mikey becomes pals with a captive squid after a visit to the Tokyo Fish Market. Mikey decides he must free it, so Guano uses a new gel that makes his fur incredibly sticky.

As part of a multi-platform initiative, Nicktoons Network has updated the show website www.nicktoonsnetwork.com/shows/kappamikey with “Tokyo Skate Jam,” an all-new online /Kappa Mikey/ game produced by Animation Collective, and the “Kappa Mikey Totally Awesome Skateboard Sweet Stakes” where fans can enter online to win a custom /Kappa Mikey/ skateboard, a trip to the Nicktoons Studio in Burbank, CA and other prizes.

“/Kappa Mikey/ has been a breakout hit for Nicktoons Network. The audience continues to grow and we are pleased to offer viewers 26 new episodes of this hilarious series,” said Keith Dawkins, Vice President and General Manager, Nicktoons Network. “The writing and humor of second season builds on the first, and we think the audience will continue to enjoy the wacky antics of Mikey Simon and his LilyMu pals.”

“We listened to the enormous fan response and this season we're delivering more of what fans love about /Kappa Mikey/, including tons of comedy and further revelations about our characters. We also produced a really exciting episode that takes place entirely inside of LilyMu and is packed with huge action,” said Larry Schwarz, /Kappa Mikey's/ creator and CEO of Animation Collective.

A fish-out-of-water animé action comedy, /Kappa Mikey/ chronicles the madcap adventures of once-struggling American actor, Cleveland, Ohio native Mikey Simon, as he adjusts to his new role as the biggest animé star Japan has even seen. When he is recruited to join the cast of LilyMu, formerly Japan's hottest animé TV series, his co-stars know immediately that he's the wrong guy for the job. But, the audience disagrees, and suddenly Mikey is Japan's newest rising star, rocketing LilyMu back to the top of the ratings. But fame doesn't come without a price, and when he's not being chased down by the paparazzi, Mikey must also find time to get to know his costars, adjust to Japanese culture and learn to love life inside the fishbowl.

The theme song from /Kappa Mikey/ is performed and created by Sony Music Japan recording artists, Beat Crusaders. The band has managed to go from darlings of the indie scene to major Top 5 success in a very short time. In spite of having only made a major label debut in 2004, lead vocalist Toru Hidaka has arranged and produced some of Japan's top musicians and supervised the musical aspects of the hit Japanese animated series Beck.

Creator Larry Schwarz is the founder and CEO of Animation Collective, the New York-based producer of children's programming for television, the Internet and home video. He's the creator and executive producer of all of Animation Collective's original television series including, /Kappa Mikey, Thumb Wrestling Federation, Leader Dog, /and/ Tortellini Western /for Nicktoons Network; and /Ellen's Acres /and/ Princess Natasha/ for Cartoon Network. In addition, Schwarz served as producer of /Wulin Warriors/ for Cartoon Network and the first season of /The Incredible Crash Dummies/ for the Fox Box.
