posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The official website for Bushiroad and Nelke Planning's Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight franchise revealed on Monday that the project's television anime will premiere this summer. The website also revealed 15- and 30-second versions of a teaser trailer and a key visual for the anime.
The Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight -The LIVE- #1 revival stage performance, which included live screenings at various theaters in Japan, announced the new information about the anime on Monday. Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight -The LIVE- #1 revival ran for four performances at AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo from Saturday to Monday. Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight -The LIVE- will get a new run at Tokyo's The Galaxy Theatre from October 13-21.
The project's unit Starlight Kukugumi will release its second single, titled "Starlight Theater," on March 7. The release will bundle advance ticket applications for a concert that will be held at Tokyo's Olympus Hall Hachiōji on June 23.
The project stars:
Momoyo Koyama as Karen Aijō
Suzuko Mimori as Hikari Kagura
Maho Tomita as Maya Tendō
Hinata Satō as Junna Hoshimi
Haruki Iwata as Mahiru Tsuyuzaki
Moeka Koizumi as NANA Daiba
Aina Aiba as Claudine Saijō
Teru Ikuta as Futaba Isuruzaki
Ayasa Itō as Kaoruko Hanayagi
Tomohiro Furukawa (unit director for Yuri Kuma Arashi, Brothers Conflict) is directing the anime at Kinema Citrus. Tatsuto Higuchi (CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon, Schwarzes Marken) is handling the series composition, and Hiroyuki Saita (Kuma Miko: Girl Meets Bear, My mental choices are completely interfering with my school romantic comedy) is designing the characters.
Bushiroad announced the franchise in April with a stage musical and television anime project. The musical Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight The LIVE, billed as a "2.5 dimension musical and live concert," ran in Tokyo from September 22-24. It featured the same cast as the planned anime.
The franchise launched two manga that will run simultaneously in the February issue of Monthly Bushiroad magazine on January 6. One of them is a four-panel manga with super-deformed characters. Sora Goto and Kanata Nakamura will also launch the Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Overture manga in the next issue of Kadokawa's Dengeki G's Comic magazine on January 30.
The franchise centers on "Starlight" — the song and dance revue troupe loved throughout the world. Karen and Hikari make a promise with each other when they're young that one day they'll stand on that stage together. Time passes, and now the girls are 16 years old. Karen is very enthusiastic about the lessons she takes every day, holding her promise close to her heart. Hikari has transferred schools and is now away from Karen. But the cogs of fate turn, and the two are destined to meet again. The girls and other "Stage Girls" will compete in a mysterious audition process to gain acceptance into the revue.
