posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
IDW Publishing announced on Wednesday that it will start publishing a Yo-kai Watch comic book series in April.
The first issue will have 32 full-color pages and will retail for US$3.99. Eric M. Esquivel (Bravest Warriors) is writing the comic series, Tina Franscisco (Strawberry Shortcake) is illustrating, and Dono Sanchez Almara (Turbo Defiant, colorist for Marvel) is coloring the comic. IDW describes the comic:
The hit anime, manga and toy sensation from Japan comes to North American comics! Join Nate and his Yo-Kai, Whisper, as they battle against ill-intentioned Yo-Kai causing terrible trouble in their hometown!
Viz Media licensed Noriyuki Konishi's Yo-kai Watch manga under its Perfect Square imprint. The company published the sixth compiled volume in July, and will publish the seventh volume in March.
The Yo-kai Watch television anime premiered on Disney XD in November 2015, and the second season premiered on August 1. Eleven Arts and Fathom Events held a one-day screening of Yo-kai Watch: The Movie, the first Yo-kai Watch anime film, in the United States on October 15.
