Yūta Higuchi has replaced Shōta Takasaki as Mizuki, Yūmi Takaki has replaced Keita Tokujō and Hiroki Takaoka as Kotetsu, and Makoto Okunaka has replaced Saori Yasaka and Juria Kawakami as Narukami-hime.
Kamisama Hajimemashita The Musical 2016 will run in the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo from January 15 to 21. Takehiko Hata (Unfair television series) is once again writing and directing the musical.
The previous stage musical adaptation of the manga ran from March 21 to 29 at the Tokyo Geijutsu Gekijō Playhouse. Takehiko Hata wrote and directed the production.
The story of Julietta Suzuki's original manga begins with Nanami, a girl who finds herself homeless after her father leaves. She comes to the home of a man who offers to let her stay over — only to discover it is a Shinto shrine. The man happened to be a deity who has just transferred his status and his yōkai to Nanami. That yōkai's name is Tomoe, and a contract between him and Nanami can only be sealed in one way: with a kiss.
The stage musical adapts Julietta Suzuki's manga of the same name. Suzuki launched the manga in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine in 2008, and Hakusensha published the 22nd volume on August 20. Viz Media is publishing the 19th volume in North America on October 6.
The manga already inspired two television anime series. The first season aired in October 2012, and the second season premiered in January. FUNimation Entertainment streamed both seasons as they aired in Japan. Funimation released the first season on DVD and Blu-ray in February 2014.
In addition to the two TV anime series, a two-episode OAD also shipped with the manga's 16th volume in August 2013. The 22nd and 23rd volumes of the manga are bundling another two-part OAD series this year. The series is also getting two more OADs with the 24th and 25th volumes next year.
