Akamatsu and Kobuichi launched the manga in Young Gangan in 2010. Square Enix published the ninth compiled volume in Japan in January.
Akamatsu's original Aria the Scarlet Ammo (Hidan no Aria) novels inspired an anime in 2011. Funimation licensed the anime for simultaneous streaming and home video release.
