Hypothetical device would have wireless capability and chip-reading technology
Nintendo, Amarella, and The Pokémon Company filed a patent in March for what could potentially be a new Pokemon gaming device.
The patent refers to "an information processing apparatus" with the ability to read wireless NFC or RFID chips, as well as the integrated circuit chips such as those found in some credit cards. The circuit chips are similar to the ones used in Nintendo's Amiibos.
Amarella director Norio Matsumura invented the device; he has worked in collaboration on Pokemon games in the past.
