Anpanman Day Returns for Sing-A-Long Concert in Fukuoka

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Fukuoka Anpanman Children's Museum in Hakata Riverain Mall will hold an event on the newly minted "Anpanman Day" on October 3. The holiday was first designated in June 2016 to celebrate the broadcast of the Soreike! Anpanman television anime that premiered on the same day in 1988.

This year's celebration will include a sing-a-long concert for parents and their children and a special sun visor gift for participants.

The Soreike! Anpanman television anime series began in 1988, and new Anpanman films have opened each summer since 1989. The 2014 film Soreike! Anpanman: Ringo Bōya to Minna no Negai (Let's Go! Anpanman: The Apple Boy and Everyone's Wishes) was the first film since Anpanman creator Takashi Yanase's passing. Soreike! Anpanman Buruburu no Takarasagashi Daibōken!(Let's Go! Anpanman: Buruburu's Big Treasure Hunt Adventure!), opened in Japan on July 1.

Other "holidays" set aside in Japan include Milk Day, Godzilla Day, and Shigeru Matsuzaki Day.
