Sony to Close Japan's PSP PlayStation Store in March
posted on by Karen Ressler
Sony Computer Entertainment announced on Friday that it will discontinue its PlayStation Store for PlayStation Portable on March 31, 2016 in Japan. The UMD Passport Service, which allows users to register physical PSP games for a discount on digital versions for the PlayStation Vita, will also end on March 31 in Japan.
Content that has already been purchased will still be downloadable. PSP games will still be available via the web store, PlayStation 3 store, and PS Vita store, and can be transferred to PSP.
Sony launched the portable gaming system in 2004 and ended shipments in Japan in June 2014.
