Was the massive hatred towards 4kids justified?

I still find Home For Infinite Losers funny.

4kids cuts were way, way worse than something like Funimation.

I'm much more forgiving of 4Kids' work on Pokemon than I am on some of their other titles because they adapted the series to the same age bracket that it was originally intended for. Let's face it, for all of our collective nostalgia the original Pokemon anime only existed to get 8-year-old kids to pester their parents to buy card packs and GameBoy cartridges. The 4Kids dub hits the right tone for a series like that.
